About the Role

 

Southampton City Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide short-term cover within the Reablement Team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy to adults with care and support needs, enabling independence, safety and wellbeing within the community.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Carry out occupational therapy assessments, care planning and reviews to promote independence and daily living skills.
  • Advise, teach and support individuals and carers in overcoming disability and maximising independence.
  • Recommend and provide standard and specialist equipment, and advise on home adaptations to enhance safety and function.
  • Work collaboratively with health, social care and partner agency colleagues to ensure coordinated support.
  • Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Assistants and students where required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, professional standards and Council policies.
  • Contribute to safeguarding adults and uphold the Council’s Equality Policy in all aspects of practice.

 

Requirements

 

  • Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised by WFOT).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience within a health or social care community setting.
  • Ability to manage a demanding and unpredictable caseload and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong communication, assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel within Southampton as required.
