About the Role
Southampton City Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide short-term cover within the Reablement Team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy to adults with care and support needs, enabling independence, safety and wellbeing within the community.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments, care planning and reviews to promote independence and daily living skills.
- Advise, teach and support individuals and carers in overcoming disability and maximising independence.
- Recommend and provide standard and specialist equipment, and advise on home adaptations to enhance safety and function.
- Work collaboratively with health, social care and partner agency colleagues to ensure coordinated support.
- Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Assistants and students where required.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, professional standards and Council policies.
- Contribute to safeguarding adults and uphold the Council’s Equality Policy in all aspects of practice.
Requirements
- Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised by WFOT).
- HCPC registration.
- Experience within a health or social care community setting.
- Ability to manage a demanding and unpredictable caseload and prioritise effectively.
- Strong communication, assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel within Southampton as required.
