Occupational Therapist – Band 7

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 7 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity with
James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust within the Early Intervention Team / Front Door service
in the East Anglia NHS region.

This role focuses on delivering early occupational therapy assessment and intervention for patients presenting to the front door
of acute services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help identify functional needs at an early stage of the
patient journey and contribute to timely clinical decision-making, discharge planning, and onward referral pathways.

As a Band 7 Occupational Therapist, you will utilise advanced assessment skills to evaluate patients’ ability to
manage daily living activities and determine appropriate support or rehabilitation needs. Your input will help ensure patients
receive the right care in the most appropriate setting while supporting effective patient flow within hospital services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy assessments within the Early Intervention / Front Door service.
  • Assess patients’ functional abilities, independence, and daily living needs at an early stage of their hospital pathway.
  • Support clinical decision-making and discharge planning through timely assessments and recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, nurses, doctors, and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Identify appropriate interventions, support needs, or onward referrals for rehabilitation services.
  • Promote safe discharge planning and patient independence where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to care planning discussions.

About You

You will be an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist with strong clinical assessment skills and the ability
to work confidently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will be comfortable making timely decisions regarding patient
care pathways and supporting effective multidisciplinary working.

Experience in acute services, early intervention teams, or front door services will be beneficial. You will demonstrate strong
communication skills and a patient-centred approach to delivering occupational therapy interventions.

Requirements

  • Degree or recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working as an Occupational Therapist at Band 7 level or equivalent senior level.
  • Experience conducting functional assessments and contributing to discharge planning.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills.

Contract & Salary

  • Role: Occupational Therapist – Band 7
  • Organisation: James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Service: Early Intervention Team / Front Door
  • Location: East Anglia NHS
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: Initially 3 months (ongoing opportunity)
  • Salary: Negotiable
