Physiotherapist – Band 6

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a skilled Band 6 Physiotherapist for an ongoing locum opportunity with James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role sits within the Acute Medicine service, supporting patients with a wide range of medical conditions requiring assessment, rehabilitation, mobility support, and discharge planning within a busy acute hospital environment.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to optimise patient outcomes, reduce length of stay, and facilitate safe and timely discharge from hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments of patients within Acute Medicine wards.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
  • Assess and treat patients with a variety of acute medical conditions affecting mobility and function.
  • Facilitate early mobilisation and functional rehabilitation.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support discharge planning and patient flow.
  • Provide advice and education to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS and HCPC standards.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives where appropriate.
  • Ensure safe and effective patient-centred care at all times.

About You

You will be an experienced Physiotherapist with previous experience working within an Acute Medicine, inpatient rehabilitation, or general medical NHS setting. You will be confident managing a varied caseload, prioritising effectively, and working autonomously within a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary working skills are essential, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience within Acute Medicine or a comparable NHS inpatient setting.
  • Strong assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation skills.
  • Experience supporting discharge planning and patient flow.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based and patient-centred practice.

Contract & Salary

  • Role: Physiotherapist – Band 6
  • Sector: East Anglia NHS
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: Ongoing
  • Salary: Negotiable
  • Location: James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
