Occupational Therapist – Band 6 (Locum)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Aintree Hospital, within the Merseyside NHS. This locum role sits within the inpatient therapy service, providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention to support patient recovery, functional independence, and safe discharge planning across acute wards.

Key Responsibilities

•   
  • Deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions for inpatients across acute clinical areas.
     

  • Support patients to maximise independence in daily living through targeted rehabilitation.
     

  • Contribute to timely and effective discharge planning in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
     

  • Manage a varied acute caseload, demonstrating strong clinical reasoning and prioritisation skills.
     

  • Ensure accurate, high-quality clinical documentation in line with HCPC and Trust standards.
     

  • Engage positively with the wider therapy team to maintain safe, coordinated patient care.

   

  About You

  You are a confident and adaptable Occupational Therapist with experience in acute inpatient settings. You bring excellent assessment and intervention skills alongside strong time management and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities. Your commitment to patient-centred care and safe, efficient discharge planning will support the delivery of a high-quality therapy service.

   

  Requirements

    

  • • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
       

    • Experience working in acute hospital environments.
       

    • Strong assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning skills.
       

    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
       

    • Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational abilities.
