Job Overview
We are recruiting an **Experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this role, you will safeguard vulnerable children, support families, and deliver interventions that create lasting, positive outcomes.
You will manage complex caseloads, undertake statutory assessments, and work closely with families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure children and young people receive the right support at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.
Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and support plans.
Manage complex child protection and safeguarding cases in line with statutory guidance.
Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work directly with children, families, and carers to build positive and trusting relationships.
Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary sector partners.
Ensure accurate, timely, and confidential recording of casework in line with legislation and council policies.
Participate in reflective supervision, peer learning, and service improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a resilient and motivated social worker with substantial post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, managing complex cases, and building strong, collaborative relationships with children, families, and professionals.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
Proven ability to manage complex caseloads effectively.
