Paediatric Community Occupational Therapist – Band 6
Job Overview
Bromley Healthcare is seeking an experienced Paediatric Community Occupational Therapist to join the team at the Phoenix Children’s Resource Centre in Bromley. This locum role offers the opportunity to deliver specialist occupational therapy services to children within the community, supporting their development, independence, and participation in everyday life.
This position is ideal for a compassionate and skilled OT with paediatric experience who thrives on working collaboratively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to make a real difference to children’s functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
– Manage a clinical caseload of children and young people with a variety of developmental and physical needs.
– Carry out specialist assessments using both standardised and non-standardised tools, observations, and parent/teacher consultations.
– Develop and implement evidence-based, individualised treatment programmes to enhance children’s occupational performance and participation.
– Provide written and verbal advice, resources, and therapy programmes for families, schools, and early years settings.
– Assess and recommend small aids and specialist equipment such as seating, bath aids, and toilet aids to support function and independence at home and school.
– Collaborate closely with parents, carers, teachers, and multidisciplinary professionals to achieve shared therapy goals.
– Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional and service standards.
About You
You’ll be a qualified Occupational Therapist with proven experience in paediatric community practice, confident in managing a diverse caseload and delivering family-centred interventions. A proactive and flexible approach, combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently, is essential.
Requirements
– Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
– Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
– Experience working with children in community, health, or educational settings (essential)
– Car driver with access to a vehicle (essential)
– Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and intervention planning skills
– Ability to liaise effectively with families, schools, and professionals
Contract & Salary
– Contract type: Locum
– Contract length: Ongoing (initially 2–3 months)
– Working hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (days and times flexible)
– Location: Phoenix Children’s Resource Centre, Mason’s Hill, Bromley (on-site only)
– Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
