This is an excellent opportunity to work within a forward-thinking local authority that places adults, carers, and their wellbeing at the heart of everything it does.
As an Adult Social Worker, you’ll be responsible for undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and coordinating support for adults with a range of complex needs. You’ll work closely with individuals, families, and partner agencies to promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life in line with the Care Act 2014.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake holistic, person-centred assessments of adults and carers in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and local procedures.
- Develop and review care and support plans that promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
- Manage a caseload of adults with diverse and often complex needs, including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health conditions.
- Work collaboratively with health professionals, voluntary sector partners, and community resources to deliver integrated, outcome-focused support.
- Apply a strengths-based approach to empower individuals to maximise their independence and participation in the community.
- Undertake safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act, ensuring timely, proportionate responses to risk.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure all interventions meet statutory and local performance standards.
- Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and the continuous development of team practice.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualifying experience in adult social care, ideally in assessment, care management, or safeguarding roles.
- Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant legislation.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to person-centred, strengths-based, and outcome-focused practice.
