About the Role
Bromley Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Qualified Social Worker to join our Adult Services team on a 3-month interim contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a forward-thinking local authority that is dedicated to promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing for adults across Bromley.
As a Qualified Social Worker within Adult Social Care, you will be responsible for carrying out assessments, developing care and support plans, and working collaboratively with individuals, families, and partner agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes. You’ll support adults with a range of needs, including older people, those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health conditions.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments, mental capacity assessments, and safeguarding enquiries as required.
- Develop and implement person-centred care and support plans that promote independence, choice, and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers, and multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated and effective interventions.
- Ensure timely and proportionate responses to identified risks, supporting individuals to remain safe and independent wherever possible.
- Provide advice and guidance on care options, eligibility criteria, and available community support services.
- Manage a varied caseload, balancing statutory responsibilities with professional autonomy.
- Prepare clear, analytical reports and maintain accurate records in line with legislation and local authority standards.
- Contribute to team discussions, reflective supervision, and ongoing service development.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualifying experience in adult social care, including assessments, safeguarding, and care management.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Safeguarding Adults procedures.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a person-centred approach.
- Commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and positive outcomes for adults in need of support.
