Brief Job Overview
We are recruiting a committed Qualified Social Worker to join the Child Protection Assessment Team in the East Riding of Yorkshire on a locum contract. This role focuses on undertaking child protection investigations and completing thorough assessments to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing. You’ll work within a supportive and experienced team dedicated to safeguarding vulnerable children and providing effective early interventions for families in need.
Key Responsibilities

Complete high-quality child protection and safeguarding assessments in line with statutory frameworks

Manage a varied caseload, prioritising risk and need to ensure timely and effective responses

Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies

Prepare detailed reports and care plans for court proceedings and child protection conferences
-
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with local authority policies and professional standards

Participate in supervision, reflective discussions, and continuous team improvement initiatives
About You

You are a Qualified Social Worker with registration through Social Work England (SWE)

You have solid experience in statutory children’s services, particularly within assessment or safeguarding teams
-
You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professional curiosity, and a child-centred approach to practice

You can balance a demanding caseload with a focus on achieving positive, sustainable outcomes for families
Requirements

Degree in Social Work (or equivalent recognised qualification)

Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)

Previous local authority experience in child protection or assessment work
-
Confident in court work, multi-agency collaboration, and complex case management
-
Car driver with access to a vehicle preferred due to the geographic area covered
