    Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Community Adult SLT Service with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH), based at Honeypot Lane Health Centre, Harrow. This locum position focuses on delivering high-quality speech and language therapy to adults with progressive and neurological conditions across community and domiciliary settings.

You’ll lead a team of Speech and Language Therapists providing both face-to-face and home-based care, ensuring effective service delivery for adults with complex communication and swallowing needs. Working within a diverse community, a significant number of clients will have English as an additional language (EAL), requiring cultural sensitivity and adaptive communication approaches.

    Key Responsibilities

    – Provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with progressive and neurological impairments.

    – Lead and supervise a team of Speech and Language Therapists, supporting professional growth and maintaining high clinical standards.

    – Deliver dysphagia management and assessment, with access to instrumental assessments such as VFS/FEES where required.

    – Manage an autonomous caseload, providing second opinions and expert clinical advice.

    – Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to design and implement individualised care plans.

    – Maintain clear communication with patients, carers, and colleagues across Health, Social Care, and the Voluntary Sector.

    – Contribute to clinical governance, research, and service development projects in communication and dysphagia.

    – Deliver specialist training to other professionals, promoting awareness and understanding of speech and language therapy.

    – Participate in quality improvement initiatives, complex audits, and continuous professional development activities.

    About You

You’ll be an experienced and confident Speech and Language Therapist with substantial NHS experience at Band 7 level, specialising in adult community and neurological rehabilitation. You’ll be competent in dysphagia management, capable of leading and mentoring others, and motivated to contribute to service development and innovation.

A strong communicator and collaborative team player, you’ll demonstrate leadership, cultural awareness, and a commitment to evidence-based practice and high-quality patient care.

    Requirements

    – Degree (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy

    – Current HCPC registration and RCSLT membership

    – Previous NHS Band 7 experience working with adults with progressive and neurological impairments (essential)

    – Dysphagia competence, with experience in instrumental assessments (VFS/FEES)

    – Proven supervision and team leadership experience

    – Strong communication and organisational skills

    – Experience working in diverse, multicultural communities (desirable)

    Contract & Salary
