Brief Job Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join the Child Protection Assessment Team in North Somerset on a locum basis. In this role, you will play a vital part in safeguarding children, completing assessments, and ensuring that families receive the right support at the right time. This position is ideal for an experienced social worker seeking a flexible contract within a forward-thinking local authority committed to positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake child protection investigations and assessments in line with statutory guidance

Manage a varied caseload and prepare detailed reports for court proceedings where required

Work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency partners to develop robust care plans

Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in accordance with local authority procedures
-
Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and reflective supervision
-
Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery within the Child Protection Assessment Team
About You

You are a qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Work England (SWE)

You have strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
-
You’re confident in managing complex child protection cases and engaging with multi-disciplinary teams

You’re compassionate, organised, and committed to delivering child-centred practice
Requirements

Social Work degree (or equivalent qualification)
-
Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)

Previous statutory experience within a Child Protection, Assessment, or similar children’s social care team
-
Ability to work independently and meet key deadlines
-
Car driver with access to a vehicle is desirable for community visits
