Executive Head of Childcare Services (London Borough of Haringey)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Executive Head of Childcare Services (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Haringey Children’s Services**. This is a senior strategic leadership role, responsible for overseeing childcare services, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving service improvement to deliver the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and families across the borough.

As Executive Head of Childcare Services, you will provide strong leadership across multiple teams, manage service performance, and work closely with senior partners, stakeholders, and council leaders to develop effective, child-centred strategies and policies.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and management across all childcare services.

Oversee multiple teams and service areas to ensure high-quality safeguarding and family support.

Lead service improvement initiatives to meet statutory requirements and Ofsted standards.

Develop and implement service strategies aligned with council and national priorities.

Manage performance, quality assurance, and inspection readiness across all teams.

Support and develop senior managers, promoting reflective practice and continuous learning.

Effectively manage budgets, resources, and workforce planning.

Promote collaborative working with education, health, police, and voluntary sector partners.

Ensure children’s voices are central to decision-making and service development.

Represent the service at senior leadership meetings, corporate boards, and external forums.

About You

You are an accomplished leader with significant post-qualification experience in children’s social work and senior management. You have a proven record of delivering service improvements, leading teams, and ensuring children remain at the heart of decision-making.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, with proven senior leadership experience.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.

Proven experience of leading teams and delivering service improvements.

Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.

Experience in budget management, resource allocation, and workforce planning.
