Occupational Therapist
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the London Borough of Ealing, based at Perceval House. This locum position, initially for 3 to 6 months, focuses on supporting adults with physical disabilities and promoting independence and wellbeing within the community.
You will work as part of a dedicated and supportive team providing specialist occupational therapy assessments, advice, and interventions, with the flexibility to work from home as part of the Council’s hybrid model.
Key Responsibilities
– Manage a caseload of adults with physical disabilities, undertaking holistic, person-centred assessments.
– Develop and implement care plans and interventions that promote independence and prevent functional decline.
– Work collaboratively with health, housing, and voluntary agencies to coordinate support and ensure high-quality service delivery.
– Advise on and arrange adaptations, assistive equipment, or environmental modifications to meet assessed needs.
– Review and monitor the effectiveness of care plans, adjusting as required in line with changing circumstances.
– Provide expert advice to service users, carers, and colleagues on occupational therapy best practice and accessibility.
– Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with professional and local authority standards.
– Contribute to the overall aims of the service by promoting inclusion, independence, and cost-effective solutions.
About You
You’ll be an empathetic and proactive Occupational Therapist with solid experience supporting adults with physical disabilities. Your ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary environment will be key. You’ll bring strong assessment, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a genuine commitment to improving quality of life for service users.
Requirements
– Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification)
– Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
– Post-qualification experience working with adults with physical disabilities (essential)
– Strong understanding of housing adaptations, assistive equipment, and community-based care pathways
– Excellent organisational and communication skills
– Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
– Knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority processes
– Experience in multi-agency and partnership working
– Ability to work from home as part of a flexible, hybrid model
