Physiotherapist – Band 6

Brief Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Intensive Rehabilitation and Therapy Service within the North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT), working across Grays Court Community Hospital and Goodmayes Hospital.

This is an exciting locum opportunity for a qualified physiotherapist with community or rehabilitation experience to provide high-quality, patient-centred therapy that promotes recovery, independence, and wellbeing. You’ll take responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of patients within a community rehab setting, using recognised outcome measures and sound clinical reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans to meet individual patient goals.
  • Deliver rehabilitation interventions within both inpatient and community settings, promoting independence and functional recovery.
  • Take responsibility for discharge planning, ensuring smooth transitions between hospital, community, and home environments.
  • Use recognised clinical outcome measures and robust clinical reasoning to guide treatment and evaluate progress.
  • Confidently plan, prioritise, and manage your own caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Contribute to team discussions, goal-setting meetings, and service development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in line with NHS and HCPC standards.
  • Provide patient education and advice to encourage self-management and long-term wellbeing.
  • Work flexibly across hospital and community sites as part of an agile working model.

About You

You are an experienced and proactive Physiotherapist who thrives in a community-based or rehabilitation environment. You have a strong understanding of clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, effective therapy. You are confident managing your own caseload and take pride in supporting patients through their recovery journey.

Requirements

  • Qualified Physiotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Post-qualification experience within the NHS, ideally in community rehabilitation or inpatient rehab settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment, and discharge planning skills.
  • Ability to use recognised outcome measures and apply sound clinical reasoning to guide practice.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload effectively.
  • Car driver desirable due to community-based elements of the role.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
  • Proficient IT skills and ability to work within an agile working model.

Contract & Salary

  • Job Type: Locum
  • Location: NELFT – Grays Court Community Hospital & Goodmayes Hospital
  • Area: North East London NHS
  • Contract Length: Ongoing
  • Salary: £Negotiable, dependent on experience
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30
  • Part-Time Option: Minimum 3 days per week (22.5 hours), dependent on experience
