Brief Job Overview
A Specialist Band 6 Occupational Therapist is required to join the Integrated Health Team within NELFT, supporting adults across the London Borough of Redbridge. This community-based role focuses on delivering high-quality rehabilitation for patients, including those with a new stroke diagnosis, to maximise independence and quality of life.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, managing your own caseload and delivering patient-centred assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation within community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a community-based caseload across the borough of Redbridge.
- Undertake detailed occupational therapy assessments and deliver appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide specialist community rehabilitation for patients with a new stroke diagnosis.
- Apply current stroke rehabilitation guidelines to support optimal recovery and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Set and review functional goals in partnership with patients, carers, and professionals.
- Order and recommend appropriate equipment to promote independence and improve quality of life.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with NHS and professional standards.
About You
You will be a confident and experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in community rehabilitation. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound clinical reasoning, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to multidisciplinary team working.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration (essential).
- Experience working within the NHS in a community setting.
- Competent experience in community rehabilitation, including working with stroke patients.
- Good knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation guidelines.
- Experience recommending and ordering equipment to support functional independence.
- Strong communication and joint-working skills.
Contract & Working Pattern
- Locum contract – ongoing
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Working hours: 09:00 – 17:00
- Community-based role within Redbridge
