View JobExperienced Social Worker – Adoption Support Team
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Experienced Social Worker to join a dedicated Adoption Support Team. This rewarding role focuses on providing specialist support to adoptive families, adopted adults, birth relatives and children throughout their adoption journey.
The successful candidate will deliver both pre- and post-adoption support, undertake comprehensive assessments, coordinate therapeutic services and work closely with families and partner agencies to promote positive, stable and lasting adoption outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist pre- and post-adoption support to adoptive families, adopted children, adoptees and birth relatives.
- Undertake Assessment of Need assessments and Review Assessment of Need assessments in line with statutory guidance.
- Support adoptive parents by attending school meetings, professional meetings and multi-agency reviews.
- Respond to and manage post-adoption contact enquiries and arrangements.
- Provide therapeutic support and advice to adoptive families.
- Identify, source and commission appropriate therapeutic services to meet assessed needs.
- Complete high-quality Adoption Support Fund (ASF) applications.
- Participate in the team’s duty service on a rota basis, undertaking duty one day each week.
- Deliver and contribute to training relating to adoption support and best practice where required.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and organisational policies.
About You
You will be an experienced Social Worker with a sound understanding of adoption legislation and adoption support services. You will have excellent assessment skills, be confident working with children and families, and be committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support throughout the adoption journey.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Experience working within Adoption Services or Children’s Social Care.
- Experience undertaking Assessment of Need and Review Assessment of Need assessments.
- Knowledge of post-adoption support, post-adoption contact and therapeutic interventions.
- Experience completing Adoption Support Fund (ASF) applications is desirable.
- Strong communication, assessment and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, adoptive families, birth relatives and multi-agency partners.
