Advanced Occupational Therapist – Band 7
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an Advanced Occupational Therapist – Band 7 for a locum role within North East London NHS. This position focuses on delivering specialist occupational therapy services within a Social Services Occupational Therapy (SSOT) team.
The Occupational Therapist will assess new referrals, identify needs related to safety, access, and independence within the home environment, and provide recommendations for equipment and adaptations. The role also includes supporting junior staff and contributing to major adaptations processes and panels.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess new referrals within the Social Services Occupational Therapy service.
- Evaluate home environments to identify needs relating to safety, access, and independence.
- Recommend equipment and home adaptations to support independent living.
- Complete onward referrals and specialist reports as required.
- Attend and contribute to Major Adaptations Panels.
- Support and guide junior staff within the SSOT team.
- Apply knowledge of the Care Act and Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes in practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with statutory and professional standards.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
social services occupational therapy, equipment provision, and major adaptations.
You will demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills and the ability to manage complex assessments independently.
You will be confident supporting junior staff, contributing to adaptation panels, and delivering
person-centred interventions that promote independence and safety.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Extensive experience within social services occupational therapy.
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act and Disabled Facilities Grant processes.
- Experience with equipment provision and major adaptations.
- Experience supporting or supervising junior staff.
- Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.

- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
