Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (East Riding of Yorkshire Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this role, you will safeguard vulnerable children, support families, and deliver high-quality interventions to improve outcomes for children and young people across the local authority.

You will manage a diverse caseload, carry out statutory assessments, and work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to achieve safe, sustainable, and child-centred outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.

Develop, implement, and review care and support plans tailored to children and families.

Manage child protection and safeguarding cases in line with statutory guidance.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.

Work in partnership with children, families, and carers to promote positive and lasting change.

Engage with multi-agency partners, including schools, health, and voluntary services, to ensure coordinated support.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with legislation and council policy.

Participate in reflective supervision, peer learning, and service development activities.

About You

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with a strong background in children’s services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, managing complex cases, and building effective relationships with children and families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding, assessments, and case management.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload effectively.
