Job overview:
Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist required to start ASAP within Children & Family Health services,
working with children and young people aged 0–18 years. This is a statutory Occupational Therapy role
covering the wider Devon area, supporting complex cases that require specialist equipment provision and
assessment for potential adaptations.
The post holder must have experience in statutory / social care Occupational Therapy, be confident working
autonomously in the community, and be able to undertake home and school visits across the county.
Main duties and responsibilities:

- Hold responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a caseload within a designated geographical area (Exeter, East and Mid Devon, or North Devon), working within own level of competence and capability
- Use a strengths-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness through evidence-based interventions, collaborative goal setting and Routine Outcome Measures
- Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment, advice and intervention to children and young people with a wide range of occupational performance difficulties across home, school and community settings
- Provide coaching and training to children, families, carers and professionals as appropriate
- Assess, recommend and support the provision of specialist adaptive equipment as part of statutory provision
- Provide specialist guidance and recommendations for home and school adaptations
- Undertake assessment and intervention relating to specialised equipment and environmental adaptations as part of statutory Occupational Therapy work
- Work flexibly across other geographical areas within Devon to support colleagues in response to service demand
- Complete accurate documentation and reports in line with service, professional and statutory requirements
Skills and experience required:

- Significant experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist
- Statutory / social care Occupational Therapy experience essential
- Experience assessing for complex equipment and potential adaptations
- Confident working autonomously within a community setting
- Ability to travel across the county to undertake community visits
