Job Title:  Neuro Occupational Therapist– Band 6
Area:  Cambridgeshire NHS
Salary:  £negotiable

Contract length:  Ongoing                     
Job details:  Integrated Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) and Community Neuro Rehabilitation (CNRS) Service.
Immediate start for up to 12 months. JD available on request:

  • To assess, plan and develop specialist OT programmes for patients with complex neurological problems and a wide variety of complex needs with support from advanced practitioner when required.
  • To work as an autonomous practitioner within the integrated multi-professional Integrated Stroke ESD and Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team
  • To be responsible for own caseload and undertake assessment of patients with complex neurological problems and multiple pathologies using specialist clinical reasoning skills.
  • To identify patient needs, agree goals and provide appropriate therapy interventions relating to their physical, functional and cognitive needs. Provide adaptive equipment, rehabilitation programmes, and work with other OT colleagues to make recommendations for minor and major adaptations in line with current legislation.
  • To be responsible for referring the patient onto other services and agencies to ensure their identified needs are met.
  • To keep the patient at the centre of care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making.
  • To allocate work to junior and non-registered staff. 
  • To provide support and education to peers, new staff non-registered staff and students.
  • To supervise junior staff and students, overseeing patient intervention and ensure that Rehabilitation Assistants deliver high quality patient care.
  • To be actively involved in teaching and supporting Band 5’s and Rehabilitation Assistants to achieve competencies.
  • To be accountable for a delegated caseload held by non-registered staff in the team.
  • To prioritise all referrals according to clinical need and to allocate or signpost appropriately.
  • To provide a high standard of care.
  • To work in various community settings, this includes lone working, with access to Advanced Practitioners when required.  

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08.30 – 16.30 (can be flexible)
