Job Overview
We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **Peterborough City Council Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering high-quality interventions that ensure safety, stability, and positive long-term outcomes for children and young people.
As a Qualified Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload, complete statutory assessments, and work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to deliver effective, child-centred practice.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, needs, and strengths.
Develop, implement, and review child-focused care and protection plans.
Manage safeguarding and child protection cases in line with statutory responsibilities.
Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive and trusting relationships.
Collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure coordinated, multi-agency support.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case records in line with legislation and Peterborough City Council policies.
Engage in reflective supervision, peer learning, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
About You
You are a motivated and resilient social worker with post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in managing safeguarding practice, working with complex cases, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload effectively.
