Speech and Language Therapist – Band 7

 

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join The Disabilities Trust t/a Brainkind at Thomas Edward Mitton House in Milton Keynes. This locum position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist neurorehabilitation setting, providing high-quality assessment and treatment for adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and post-stroke communication and swallowing disorders.  

 

You will be joining a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting recovery and promoting independence through evidence-based, person-centred care.

 

Key Responsibilities

– Deliver specialist speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for adults with ABI, TBI, and stroke-related communication and swallowing difficulties.  

– Provide expert dysphagia management, including clinical assessment and formulation of individualised treatment plans.  

– Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual needs.  

– Educate and support families, carers, and colleagues regarding communication and swallowing management.  

– Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.  

– Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development initiatives within the neurorehabilitation unit.  

– Provide supervision and support to junior SLTs and therapy assistants as required.
