Occupational Therapist – Band 7 (2 Roles)

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting two experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapists for an urgent locum opportunity within Surrey NHS. Based at Wexham Park Hospital, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, these roles sit within the Older People and Integrated Care Service, supporting acute inpatient pathways across general medicine and emergency care.

The successful candidates will provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning for patients within a busy acute hospital environment. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will support safe and timely discharges, maximise patient independence, and deliver high-quality rehabilitation interventions. Experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapists with relevant acute NHS experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for patients within acute hospital settings.
• Manage a complex caseload across Older People and Integrated Care services.
• Provide rehabilitation interventions to maximise functional independence and recovery.
• Support safe, effective, and timely discharge planning from hospital.
• Assess and recommend complex manual handling equipment and rehabilitation solutions.
• Work across speciality areas including General Medicine and the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, and carers.
• Develop person-centred treatment plans based on clinical assessment and evidence-based practice.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with HCPC and NHS standards.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and best practice initiatives.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in acute NHS hospital services, particularly within older people’s services, general medicine, rehabilitation, or emergency care.

You will possess excellent assessment, discharge planning, and clinical reasoning skills, alongside the ability to manage complex cases and work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience working within a UK NHS hospital setting.
• Strong acute Occupational Therapy experience.
• Experience in rehabilitation, discharge planning, and functional assessment.
• Knowledge and experience of complex manual handling equipment.
• Experience working within Older People’s Services, General Medicine, Emergency Department, or Integrated Care pathways.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Band 7 experience desirable; experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapists will also be considered.
