Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within Berkshire NHS. Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, part of Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, this role offers the opportunity to work across inpatient and community settings, delivering high-quality rehabilitation and supporting patients to achieve maximum independence.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with strong inpatient rehabilitation experience who enjoys working across both hospital and community environments. You will provide comprehensive assessments, deliver evidence-based interventions, and contribute to safe discharge planning while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for adults with a range of physical health conditions.
• Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation programmes that maximise functional ability and independence.
• Manage a varied inpatient caseload while supporting community-based rehabilitation where required.
• Assess patients’ functional, cognitive, and environmental needs to develop person-centred treatment plans.
• Support safe and timely discharge planning in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment and adaptations to facilitate safe independent living.
• Provide education and advice to patients, families, and carers to support ongoing rehabilitation.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, therapy, and community teams to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
• Contribute to the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services across inpatient and community settings.

About You

You will be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with strong NHS experience and a background in inpatient physical rehabilitation. You will be confident managing a varied caseload, working autonomously, and supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey from hospital through to the community.

You will possess excellent assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills, together with a flexible approach to working across different clinical environments.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Essential NHS Occupational Therapy experience.
• Essential experience working within inpatient physical rehabilitation services.
• Ability to work across both inpatient and community settings.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Excellent rehabilitation, assessment, and discharge planning skills.
• Strong communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary team-working abilities.
