Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within Surrey NHS. Based at Wexham Park Hospital, this role supports the Older People and Integrated Care Service, providing acute occupational therapy assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning for patients within a busy NHS hospital setting.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will work with patients presenting with a wide range of medical and complex needs, supporting safe discharge pathways and promoting independence through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions. Applications from experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapists will also be considered.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention within acute hospital settings.
  • Manage a caseload of patients within Older People and Integrated Care services.
  • Undertake rehabilitation and discharge planning to facilitate safe and effective patient discharge.
  • Assess functional abilities and develop person-centred rehabilitation plans.
  • Work with patients requiring complex manual handling equipment and interventions.
  • Support patients across general medicine and Emergency Department pathways.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
  • Provide advice and education to patients, families, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS and HCPC standards.

 

 

 

About You

 

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in 
acute NHS hospital services. You will have experience managing complex caseloads, supporting rehabilitation, and facilitating safe discharge planning within fast-paced clinical environments.

 

 

 

You will demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, with confidence working autonomously while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary team working.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within a UK NHS hospital setting (essential).
  • Acute occupational therapy experience.
  • Experience in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
  • Experience managing patients requiring complex manual handling equipment.
  • Experience within older people’s services, general medicine, or emergency care desirable.
  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary team working skills.
