Job Overview
We are recruiting a skilled Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Integrated Health Team at NELFT in Redbridge, within the East London NHS. This community-based locum role focuses on the rehabilitation of patients with a new stroke diagnosis, supporting their recovery and independence within the borough. You will work autonomously with your own caseload while contributing to a well-established multidisciplinary team delivering person-centred, evidence-based stroke rehabilitation in the community.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage a community-based caseload, completing detailed occupational therapy assessments and delivering appropriate treatment interventions.
- Provide specialist rehabilitation for patients with a new stroke diagnosis in line with current stroke rehabilitation guidelines.
- Work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and joint working to achieve patient-centred goals.
- Assess complex functional needs and implement interventions to optimise independence and quality of life.
- Order and recommend appropriate equipment to support rehabilitation and promote safe independence.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with NHS and HCPC standards.
About You
You are a confident and knowledgeable Occupational Therapist with strong experience in community stroke rehabilitation. You bring excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, and you are comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your person-centred approach and commitment to evidence-based practice will enable you to deliver high-quality rehabilitation for patients with complex functional needs.
Requirements

- Degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
- Proven experience working as a community Occupational Therapist within the NHS.
- Competent experience in the rehabilitation of patients with a new stroke diagnosis.
- Strong knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation guidelines.
- Experience assessing complex functional needs and delivering appropriate interventions.
- Confidence in ordering and recommending rehabilitation equipment to promote independence.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within an MDT.
Contract & Salary
- Degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
