View JobIntroduction:
Leicestershire County Council is looking for motivated and skilled Referral and Assessment Social Workers to join our frontline safeguarding team. Based in the First Response service, you will be the first point of contact for children and families entering the social care system, carrying out timely assessments and making informed decisions about next steps. This is a fast-paced and supportive environment where your work will make a real difference to vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities:

Complete high-quality assessments under the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.

Respond to referrals promptly, identifying levels of risk and ensuring children are safeguarded through appropriate action and intervention.

Work closely with families, schools, health professionals, and police, using a multi-agency approach to support and protect children.

Make clear, evidence-based decisions, and where required, progress cases into longer-term services or initiate care proceedings.
Requirements:
-
Qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England

Experience in frontline or assessment work with children and families
-
Strong understanding of child protection legislation and thresholds
-
Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skill
