Rehab Assistant – Band 3
Job Overview
We are recruiting an enthusiastic Band 3 Rehab Assistant to join the Intensive Rehab & Therapy Service at NELFT (North East London NHS Foundation Trust), based across Grays Court Community Hospital and Goodmayes Hospital. This locum role offers an excellent opportunity to support patients in the community by delivering high-quality, goal-focused rehabilitation and reablement care under the guidance of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
You’ll be helping individuals regain independence, improve mobility, and achieve personal goals by providing support in their own homes as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
– Follow tailored treatment plans developed by qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
– Complete up to six home visits per day, delivering high-quality rehabilitation support in patients’ own environments.
– Assist with mobility, exercise programmes, and daily living activities to promote independence.
– Observe, record, and report patient progress or any changes in condition to the supervising therapist.
– Encourage patient participation and provide reassurance and motivation during sessions.
– Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all activities comply with NHS and service standards.
– Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting seamless patient care.
– Support agile working and flexible service delivery as required by community-based care models.
About You
You’ll be a dedicated and adaptable Rehab Assistant with experience working within the NHS, ideally in community or rehabilitation settings. You’ll demonstrate strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to motivate patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Confidence in working independently in the community and managing a daily caseload is essential, along with a flexible and proactive approach to care.
Requirements
– Experience as a Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant within the NHS (essential)
– Experience in community rehabilitation or reablement services (desirable)
– Full UK driving licence and access to a car (preferred)
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to follow treatment plans accurately and provide effective patient support
– Good organisational skills and confidence managing a caseload
– Knowledge of community healthcare and rehabilitation practices
Contract & Salary
– Contract type: Locum
– Contract length: Ongoing
– Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30
– Part time: Considered (minimum 3 days / 22.5 hours per week, dependent on experience)
