Speech and Language Therapist – Band 7 (Locum)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join the stroke rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge service at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Llandudno Hospital, within the North Wales NHS. This urgent locum role is for an initial three-month period and focuses on delivering specialist assessment and therapy for adults recovering from stroke across Conwy and Denbighshire.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention for adults within stroke rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge pathways.
- Deliver high-quality dysphagia assessment and management—dysphagia competency is essential.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support coordinated, person-centred stroke rehabilitation.
- Contribute to timely and effective discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care across hospital and community settings.
- Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and adapt therapy plans in line with clinical presentation and patient needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with HCPC standards and NHS policies.

- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Significant post-qualification experience in stroke rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge services.
- Dysphagia experience is essential.
- Strong assessment, intervention planning, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work across hospital and community settings within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and clinical reasoning abilities.
