Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust at St Michael’s Hospital, Warwick, within the West Midlands NHS. This locum role is based on the Adult Male Acute Mental Health Ward (20 beds) as part of the Psychiatric Physical Complexity Pathway (PPCU). The service supports individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crises alongside complex physical health needs linked to ageing or illness. This is a key clinical post focused on delivering and leading high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy within a 24/7 multidisciplinary acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Lead and evaluate the delivery of occupational therapy interventions within the Adult Male Acute Mental Health Ward.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused ward environment.
- Undertake holistic assessments addressing both physical and mental health needs.
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to support functional recovery and independence.
- Engage with carers and families as part of the wider assessment and care planning process.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team across the PPCU pathway.
- Contribute to ward-based and pathway-wide activities, audits, and service development as required.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with Trust and HCPC standards.
About You
You are a confident and resilient Occupational Therapist with experience working in acute mental health settings and with patients who present with complex physical health needs. You will bring strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment. You are committed to delivering person-centred, recovery-focused care within inpatient mental health services.
Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within acute mental health or complex inpatient settings.
- Strong skills in holistic assessment and evidence-based intervention planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel between sites is essential.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills.
