The London Borough of Merton is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join our Children’s Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with vulnerable children and families within a diverse and supportive community. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and future of children in need of care and protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Child Protection & Safeguarding: Assess and manage cases involving children at risk of harm, ensuring comprehensive safeguarding measures are in place and that all interventions are in line with Merton’s child protection procedures.

  • Care Planning & Reviews: Develop and implement tailored care plans, ensuring timely reviews, and maintaining a child-focused approach to service delivery.

  • Collaborative Working: Liaise with schools, health professionals, and multi-agency teams to deliver coordinated and effective interventions for children and families.

  • Court Work & Legal Proceedings: Prepare detailed reports and represent the local authority in court proceedings, child protection conferences, and legal meetings to safeguard children’s welfare.

  • Case Management & Support: Carry a caseload of children and families, ensuring consistent, quality support through the assessment, planning, and delivery of services.

  • Professional Development & Supervision: Engage in regular supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development to uphold high standards of practice and improve service delivery.
