Job Title:  Paediatric Occupational Therapist  (Part time)
Area:  Gloucestershire Social Services

Job details:  Occupational Therapist required:

  • To manage caseload of children and young people with a range of needs including those with complex disabilities, providing occupationally focused assessment, reports and intervention.
  • To act as an expert advisor and practitioner in Children’s OT providing second opinions if OT provision in an EHCP is contested.
  • Be the Lead OT for SEND appeals and tribunal legal processes, with specialist knowledge of complex cases within an educational context. To work closely with the EHCP Team and other stakeholders contributing to appeals as an expert witness where OT provision is contested

Skills/experience: significant experience in working with children with SEND and producing reports for EHCP’s. Good understanding of legal duties and the SEND Code of Practice. JD available on request:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy advice and reports for Statutory Education Health and Care Needs Assessment. Advice should outline child or young person’s educational needs, desired outcomes and special educational provision that may be required to meet identified needs and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Deliver tailored Occupational Therapy support to children with a variety of developmental, sensory, physical, and Occupational Therapy needs.
  • Liaise with professionals in educational settings to enable the delivery of indirect therapy, including where appropriate delivering workforce development to educational settings.
  • Provide evidence-based and accessible service delivery: Deliver services in line with UK professional standards,  with accessibility across school and community settings.
  • Provide specialist Occupational Therapist written advice and attend hearing as witness on behalf of the local authority for SENDIST appeals, and or undertake professional discussions with Occupational Therapists regarding the content of their professional report and recommendations.

Working hours: Part time – 3 days per week.
