Job Title: Community Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Job details:

 

Community Paediatric Occupational Therapist required to provide an Occupational Therapy service for children and young people with physical disabilities, including those with multiple and complex needs, learning disabilities and/or mental health needs, who live in or are the responsibility of the London Borough of Lewisham.

 

The post holder will be part of the Paediatric OT team and will manage a caseload delivering assessments, advice, equipment and adaptations to disabled children, young people and their families/carers within the community.

 

  •  
    • Manage a community caseload of children and young people with physical and complex disabilities
       

    • Visit children and young people in their own homes or institutional settings to complete functional assessments related to activities of daily living
       

    • Recommend, arrange and review the provision of equipment to maximise independence and/or support carers
       

    • Recommend and support the provision of minor and major adaptations, ensuring completed works meet assessed needs
       

    • Teach children, young people and carers the safe use of equipment, adaptations and alternative techniques
       

    • Provide advice, guidance and support to parents, carers and partner agencies
       

    • Refer children and young people to internal and external services where appropriate
       

    • Promote rehabilitation outside the home through liaison with partner organisations and community services
       

    • Participate in Occupational Therapy duty systems and rota arrangements as required
       

    • Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding children and young people and their families

     

    Working pattern:

     

    •  
      • Hybrid working model
         

      • Minimum of 1 day per week in the office (ideally Wednesday)
         

      • Maximum of 2 days per week in the office
