Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Social Worker to join our Looked After Children (LAC) team. The role involves managing and supporting children in care to ensure their safety, stability, and well-being, while working closely with carers and multi-agency partners.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage LAC cases: Undertake assessments, develop care plans, and review placements for children looked after by the local authority.

  • Support placement stability: Collaborate with foster carers, residential units, and families to promote safe and consistent care environments.

  • Participate in statutory processes: Prepare for and attend care reviews, child protection conferences, and court hearings as required.

  • Liaise with multi-agency teams: Work closely with education, health, and other partners to coordinate comprehensive support.
