Job Title: Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6 or 7

Contract Length: Ongoing
Job details: Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist or Advanced Practitioner Early Years & Community required – Band 6 or 7 depending on experience. Initially for 3 months.
Band 6 requirements:
- Holds recognized Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent.
- Holds post-graduate qualification in paediatric dysphagia or is able to participate and complete a post graduate qualification in paediatric dysphagia.
- Holds Health and Care Professions Council licence to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Registered Memberof the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Evidence of completion of relevant short courses and continuing professional development in specialist areas relevant to the post.
- Extensive experience at post-graduate level with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties in children.
- Significant experience of working with children and young people with complex special educational needs.
- Significant experience of working in multidisciplinary teams to assess the needs of children and families.
- Experience at post-graduate level of using a range of assessments and assessment processes.
- Experience at post-graduate level of delivering and evaluating relevant training and coaching programmes.
- Experience of data gathering methodology and participation in clinical audit.
- Experience in developing, programming and evaluating the use of low- and high-tech communication aids.
Band 7 requirements:
- Holds recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent.
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist courses up to Master’s Degree or equivalent, or advanced experiential training within specialism.
- Holds Health Professions Council license to practice.
- Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Member of RCSLT Clinical Excellence Networks
- Leadership or Management Training or willingness to complete NHS recognised programme up to Masters level.
- Significant experience at post-graduate level working with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs.
- Extensive experience of working in partnership with education staff in early years/school settings supporting children with a range of needs
- Extensive experience at post-graduate level of using, analysing and reporting findings from a variety of tests and formal/informal assessments
- Extensive experience of delivering specialist training which might include accredited packages such as Elklan, Makaton or Parent and setting coaching such as Early Bird /+.
- Experience of supporting/managing Speech and Language Therapy and /or other health colleagues through line management, mentoring/coaching
