Stroke Occupational Therapist – Band 6 (Locum, 2 Roles)
Job Overview
We are recruiting two experienced Band 6 Stroke Occupational Therapists to join the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, within the West Yorkshire NHS. These locum positions focus on delivering specialist occupational therapy interventions to adults recovering from stroke, supporting their rehabilitation in community settings. You will autonomously manage your own caseload, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to maximise recovery, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for adults undergoing community-based stroke rehabilitation.
- Manage an autonomous caseload, prioritising effectively and using advanced clinical reasoning to support meaningful recovery.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver individualised rehabilitation plans.
- Support patients in regaining functional skills, independence, and confidence in their daily routines and home environments.
- Use evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality stroke rehabilitation interventions.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, with familiarity in System 1 or other electronic record systems desirable.
- Provide clear communication with patients, families, carers, and healthcare partners to ensure coordinated care.
About You
You are a dedicated and confident Occupational Therapist with strong experience in stroke rehabilitation and community-based practice. You bring excellent assessment, problem-solving, and caseload management skills, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your previous experience supporting stroke survivors in community settings will enable you to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience.
- At least 2 years of previous community stroke rehabilitation experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a community caseload confidently.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Car driver with access to a vehicle.
- Desirable: experience using System 1 or similar electronic record systems; experience in community or primary care teams.

- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30
