Rehab Assistant – Band 3

Job Overview

We are recruiting a motivated Band 3 Rehab Assistant to join the Intensive Rehab & Therapy Service at NELFT (North East London NHS Foundation Trust), based across Grays Court Community Hospital and Goodmayes Hospital. This locum position plays an important role in supporting winter pressures, helping patients regain independence and mobility through community-based rehabilitation.

Working closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, you’ll deliver hands-on care and support patients within their own homes, ensuring effective follow-up treatment and safe, goal-directed rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

– Carry out delegated treatment plans as prescribed by the supervising Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist.

– Visit and support up to six patients per day in their own homes to deliver tailored rehabilitation programmes.

– Encourage patients to achieve independence in mobility, self-care, and daily living activities.

– Provide progress feedback to qualified therapists and update clinical records accurately.

– Assist in monitoring patient progress and identifying any changes in condition or rehabilitation needs.

– Liaise effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care.

– Promote patient safety and wellbeing through effective communication and adherence to NHS guidelines.

– Support flexible and agile working practices within the community rehabilitation service.

About You

You’ll be a dedicated and adaptable Rehab Assistant with previous NHS experience, ideally within a community or rehabilitation setting. You’ll demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and the ability to motivate patients during their recovery
