Rehab Assistant – Band 3

Brief Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Rehab Assistant (Band 3) to join the Intensive Rehabilitation and Therapy Service at the North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT). Working across Grays Court Community Hospital and Goodmayes Hospital, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a proactive team that supports patients to recover independence and confidence within their own homes.

This locum role is ideal for someone with experience as a Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant who enjoys working in the community and is confident managing home visits as part of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver rehabilitation support in line with treatment plans developed by Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • Undertake up to six home visits per day to provide therapy interventions and practical assistance to patients in their own environment.
  • Encourage and motivate patients to achieve independence in daily living activities and functional mobility.
  • Assist with exercises, mobility practice, and rehabilitation programmes under clinical supervision.
  • Provide feedback on patients’ progress to supervising clinicians and record relevant information accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure safe use of equipment and adherence to therapy protocols and infection control standards.
  • Promote recovery, safety, and wellbeing through a compassionate, person-centred approach.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and training opportunities to support continuous professional development.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support efficient, high-quality patient care across inpatient and community settings.

About You

You are a motivated and caring individual with hands-on experience supporting rehabilitation and therapy within a community or NHS setting. You are confident working independently, adaptable to varied patient needs, and passionate about helping people regain their independence and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Physiotherapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant within the NHS or a similar healthcare setting.
  • Experience in community rehabilitation or similar patient-facing roles.
  • Ability to follow treatment plans and deliver safe, effective interventions under supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a supportive and encouraging approach to patients.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car – essential for community visits.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage time efficiently across multiple home visits.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and high standards of care.
  • Agile working mindset, flexible to work across hospital and community settings as required.

Contract & Salary

  • Job Type: Locum
  • Location: NELFT – Grays Court Community Hospital & Goodmayes Hospital
  • Area: North East London NHS
  • Contract Length: Ongoing
  • Salary: £Negotiable, dependent on experience
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30
  • Part-Time Option: Minimum 3 days per week (22.5 hours), dependent on experience
