Job Details

Occupational Therapist required to join the Independent Living Services for an initial 3-month period, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available. The service includes Occupational Therapists, Technology Enabled Living Assessors, and Occupational Therapy Assistants, working across Duty and Locality teams.

Independent Living Service Occupational Therapists work in partnership with adults, their families, and carers when illness or medical conditions impact a person’s ability to participate in everyday activities. The focus of the role is enablement—supporting individuals to increase independence, choice, control, health, and wellbeing.

The team delivers interventions within people’s own homes and local environments, providing bespoke support, information, and advice. This includes facilitating access to aids to daily living, adaptations, dignified moving and handling solutions, specialist community equipment, and technology-enabled living.

Key Responsibilities

  •
  • Maintain a varied caseload across community settings including rural, town, village, and city locations

  • Undertake functional, social, and environmental assessments

  • Identify risks and barriers to independence while recognising strengths, motivations, and capabilities

  • Develop personalised, meaningful intervention programmes to support independence and wellbeing

  • Facilitate provision of aids, adaptations, specialist equipment, and technology-enabled living solutions

  • Work collaboratively with social care, health, housing professionals, and external agencies

  • Support the supervision and development of junior staff

  • Maintain professional standards and compliance with relevant legislation

  • Contribute to team building, service development, and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

  •
  • Registered Occupational Therapist

  • Sound working knowledge of community occupational therapy services and social care provision

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills

  • Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload

  • Commitment to ongoing professional, service, and personal development
