Job Title:  Occupational Therapist
Area: Greater Manchester Social Services

Job details:  The Community Occupational Therapy Team are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to support the busy Duty Team. The role is office based alongside the Prevention Team and other Adult Care Services. Tasks include the screening of enquiries to the service, using robust screening tools, offering advice, support and signposting to service users. Using the information gathered the Occupational Therapy managers will prioritize the cases and establish if a face to face visit is required.  Skills/experience: good working knowledge of the Care Act  2014 and OT practice within Equipment and Adaptations Service. Support will be available from the Duty manager who will be a senior occupational therapist. There may be a requirement to complete Duty visits to complete assessments to reduce risk and maintain independence.  Adult Care have recently obtained Magic Notes and this is proving a supportive tool when completing Duty work. To ensure that people in need of social care services and their carers receive services which meet their needs by:

  • Carrying out an assessment of needs of individuals and their carers in line with current social care legislation and RBC policies and procedures.
  • Providing advice and support to enable service users and their carers to live as independently as possible.
  • Equipment and adaptations, on occasion commissioning packages of care which are person centred and meet the needs of eligible individuals and their carers.
  • Commissioning services and using resources in a cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Establishing and developing effective working relationships with other agencies, both internal and external.

Working hours: Monday to Friday. Full time (3 hours per week), or part time may be considered.
