Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (London Borough of Lambeth)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Lambeth Children’s Services team**. This role focuses on safeguarding children, supporting families, and promoting positive outcomes through high-quality social work practice.

As a Qualified Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload including child in need, child protection, and looked-after children. You will work directly with children, young people, and their families, alongside partner agencies, to deliver safe and effective interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.

Develop, implement, and review child-focused care and protection plans.

Manage a caseload including child in need, child protection, and looked-after children cases.

Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.

Work directly with children, young people, and families to build trusting and supportive relationships.

Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure effective multi-agency support.

Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Lambeth Council policies.

Engage in reflective supervision, training, and team learning to support your professional development.

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with a strong commitment to improving the lives of children and families. You can manage a varied caseload, work effectively under pressure, and ensure children’s voices remain central to practice and decision-making.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience within Children’s Services (caseloads will be allocated in line with your experience).

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
