View JobCheshire East Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to oversee the care plans of children and young people in care. The IRO plays a vital role in ensuring that care plans meet statutory requirements, that children’s voices are heard, and that their welfare and rights are promoted in line with the Children Act 1989 and statutory guidance.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and review the care plans for looked after children, ensuring that plans are appropriate, timely, and meet the child’s best interests.

Chair Looked After Child Reviews in a fair, child-centred, and effective manner, involving children, carers, families, and professionals.

Challenge and escalate concerns where care plans are not progressing or failing to safeguard children’s welfare.

Maintain accurate records and produce reports in accordance with Cheshire East Council’s policies and statutory guidance.
