We are seeking a qualified and experienced Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to join our Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) service. This role is crucial in ensuring that decisions made on behalf of individuals who lack capacity are lawful, ethical, and in their best interests.
Key Responsibilities:

Undertake Best Interests Assessments: Complete comprehensive DoLS assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act and statutory timescales.

Work collaboratively with professionals: Engage with doctors, care home staff, advocates, and families to gather relevant information for assessments.

Safeguard individuals’ rights: Ensure that any deprivation of liberty is necessary, proportionate, and the least restrictive option available.

Maintain accurate documentation: Produce clear, legally sound reports and recommendations for authorisation panels or supervisory bodies.
