Islington Borough Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Social Worker to serve as a Child Protection Conference Chair within our Children’s Services. This pivotal role involves chairing child protection conferences, making critical decisions regarding child protection plans, and ensuring that children and families are at the heart of the decision-making process. Key Responsibilities:

Chair Child Protection Conferences: Lead initial and review conferences, making decisions about whether a child should be made subject to a Child Protection Plan in line with national, local, and pan-London Child Protection Procedures.

Consultation and Advice: Provide professional consultation, advice, support, and challenge to social work practitioners and managers on critical child protection decisions and care planning for children in care.

Monitoring and Tracking: Rigorously monitor and track child protection plans, identifying any barriers within the wider multi-agency system to the implementation of children’s plans.

Family Involvement: Promote full and active participation of children and their families in child protection conferences, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in the decision-making process.

Professional Development: Maintain professional independence and provide appropriate challenge in child protection practice to ensure children are safeguarded.
