Physiotherapist – Band 7 (Bedfordshire NHS, Luton & Bedford)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Physiotherapist (Band 7) to join the Bedfordshire NHS therapy team, working across Luton and Bedford. This locum position offers the opportunity to deliver advanced, evidence-based physiotherapy services, supporting patients with a range of complex physical and rehabilitation needs.  

As a senior member of the therapies team, you will provide expert clinical input, supervision, and leadership while ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care across community and hospital settings.
 

Key Responsibilities

•   
  • Undertake and oversee comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for patients with diverse and complex needs.
     

  • Design, implement, and evaluate specialist treatment programmes to optimise function, mobility, and quality of life.
     

  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff, students, and support workers within the therapy service.
     

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated rehabilitation and discharge planning.
     

  • Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to service development initiatives across therapy departments.
     

  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and training programmes to maintain and enhance service standards.
     

  • Deliver effective documentation and communication to ensure seamless patient care and compliance with NHS and professional regulations.

   

  About You

  You are an accomplished and motivated Physiotherapist with advanced clinical knowledge and a track record of delivering excellent patient outcomes. You have strong leadership, organisational, and mentoring skills, and are confident managing complex caseloads within multidisciplinary environments. You are committed to innovation, evidence-based practice, and continual professional development.

  Requirements  

  • • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy with current HCPC registration.  
    • Extensive post-qualification experience, including work in NHS or equivalent healthcare settings.  
    • Strong background in assessment, treatment planning, and rehabilitation for complex physical conditions.  
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.  
    • Ability to work flexibly across sites in Luton and Bedford as service needs require.  
    • Commitment to promoting evidence-based, patient-centred care.

     

    Contract & Salary

  •  
    • Position: Locum Physiotherapist – Band 7
       

    • Location: Luton and Bedford, Bedfordshire NHS
       

    • Pay rate: Negotiable (dependent on experience)
       

    • Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday)
       

    • Contract length: Ongoing
