Occupational Therapist (2 Roles) – London Borough of Harrow

Job Overview

We are seeking two experienced Occupational Therapists to join the North West London Social Services team in the London Borough of Harrow. These locum positions involve working with both adults and children with physical and learning disabilities. The focus of the role is on promoting independence, supporting individuals to live safely at home, and delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy interventions. You will assess, plan, and review care packages and recommend adaptations or equipment to enhance independent living and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  •
  • Act as the allocated Occupational Therapist for adults and children with physical disabilities and learning disabilities, providing preventative and supportive interventions to promote independence.

  • Assess functional needs and develop, review, and monitor individual care plans involving adaptations, equipment, and moving and handling to support independent living.

  • Work within a strength-based model that focuses on prevention, promoting independence, and identifying creative solutions to help individuals remain in their own homes.

  • Commission services for adaptations and equipment provision, liaising with voluntary and statutory bodies locally and nationally to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Provide consultation and support as Duty Officer to care management teams, health and social care professionals, and members of the public regarding disability, equipment solutions, and moving and handling.

  • Screen referrals into the service, prioritising cases and ensuring timely, appropriate responses.

About You

You will be a compassionate and proactive Occupational Therapist with excellent assessment and problem-solving skills. You’ll have a clear understanding of how to apply strength-based approaches within a social care context and will be confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your ability to build relationships with individuals, families, and partner organisations will be key to achieving the best outcomes for service users.

Requirements

  •
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Previous experience working with adults and/or children with physical disabilities or learning disabilities.

  • Knowledge of equipment provision, home adaptations, and moving and handling assessments.

  • Strong understanding of social care legislation, safeguarding, and person-centred planning.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work flexibly within a multi-agency environment.

Contract & Salary

  •
  • Job Type: Locum

  • Contract Length: Ongoing
