Brief Job Overview / Introduction to Role
We are recruiting an Occupational Therapist to join Ceredigion County Council in West Wales. This locum position involves supporting the main Occupational Therapy team, primarily managing adult social services cases. You will provide assessments, interventions, and recommendations for individuals with chronic conditions, complex home adaptation needs, and manual handling requirements, while also having the opportunity to gain paediatric experience within this through-age service.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct assessments and provide interventions for adults with physical, cognitive, or chronic health conditions affecting daily living and independence. – Recommend and arrange equipment and adaptations, including complex home modifications via Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG), to support safety and independence. – Support manual handling assessments and interventions to reduce risk and improve client outcomes. – Provide person-centred advice and guidance to clients, families, and carers to optimise function and independence. – Collaborate effectively within the multi-disciplinary OT team and across social care services. – Contribute to service delivery across the full age range, with opportunities to gain experience in paediatric Occupational Therapy cases. – Ensure adherence to professional standards, policies, and statutory frameworks relevant to social care and occupational therapy practice.
About You
You are a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in adult social care, complex home adaptations, manual handling, and chronic condition management. You are confident working independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. You are motivated to provide high-quality, person-centred care and are open to gaining experience across the full age range, including paediatric cases.
Requirements
– Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification. – Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). – Experience in adult social care, including manual handling, equipment provision, and complex home adaptations. – Knowledge of statutory frameworks relevant to social care and occupational therapy practice. – Ability to work independently, manage caseloads effectively, and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team. – Willingness to work across age ranges, including paediatric cases where required.
