Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within South Wales Social Services. This position focuses on supporting adults with complex needs, promoting independence, social inclusion, and safe care within community settings.
The Occupational Therapist will carry out assessments, interventions, and reviews to support individuals to remain safely in their own homes for as long as possible. The role involves working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary environment and contributing to the ongoing development of adult social care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and evaluations for adults with complex needs.
- Assess for aids to independence, manual handling solutions, and major and minor adaptations.
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of equipment and adaptation provisions.
- Promote independence and reduce reliance on long-term care packages.
- Work collaboratively with social care, NHS colleagues, GPs, and voluntary organisations.
- Provide advice and support to team members and social work colleagues.
- Support and supervise junior staff, students, and Occupational Therapy Assistants.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous case notes and electronic records.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and service development activities.
- Contribute to fieldwork education and support student placements where required.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working within
adult social care or community services. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning
skills and the ability to manage complex assessments and interventions independently.
You will be confident working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and committed to delivering
person-centred, strengths-based support that promotes independence and wellbeing.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience in occupational therapy assessment and intervention within adult services.
- Experience with equipment provision, adaptations, and manual handling assessments.
- Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records.
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication, organisational, and supervisory skills.
