Practice Manager – Adult Social Care

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Practice Manager for a locum opportunity with East Sussex County Council, based at Cavendish House, Hastings. Working within East Sussex Social Services, you will provide operational leadership across the Emergency Duty Service and support an Adult Mental Health Team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality statutory services.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Adult Social Care leader with a strong background in operational management, safeguarding, and statutory practice. You will manage Senior Practitioners, provide professional leadership, and work closely with senior managers to maintain high standards of practice while supporting continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Emergency Duty Service and Adult Mental Health Team.
• Manage, supervise, and support Senior Practitioners to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
• Lead and promote high-quality statutory Adult Social Care practice in accordance with relevant legislation and council policies.
• Provide professional guidance, advice, and decision-making support on complex cases and safeguarding matters.
• Ensure statutory duties are delivered effectively, safely, and within required timescales.
• Support workforce development through supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
• Work collaboratively with senior managers to implement service improvements and maintain operational performance.
• Promote strengths-based, person-centred practice across Adult Social Care services.
• Develop effective working relationships with health partners, emergency services, and other statutory and voluntary organisations.
• Monitor service quality, manage operational risks, and contribute to governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of professional practice, accountability, and compliance with legislative requirements.

About You

You will be an experienced Practice Manager or operational leader within Adult Social Care, with a proven track record of managing complex statutory services and supporting multidisciplinary teams. You will possess strong leadership skills, sound professional judgement, and the ability to provide clear direction within fast-paced operational environments.

You will have an excellent understanding of Adult Social Care legislation, safeguarding, and emergency or mental health services, together with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Requirements

• Significant leadership experience within Adult Social Care.
• Experience managing Senior Practitioners and operational social care teams.
• Strong knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, safeguarding, and statutory responsibilities.
• Experience supporting Adult Mental Health services and/or Emergency Duty Services is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and performance management skills.
• Ability to manage complex operational issues and provide professional guidance on high-risk cases.
• Excellent communication, partnership working, and organisational skills.
• Commitment to strengths-based practice, continuous improvement, and high-quality service delivery.
