Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 5 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within
South East London NHS. This position supports occupational therapy services within a
fast-paced emergency department environment, working with patients who require timely assessment and
intervention following admission.
The Occupational Therapist will manage a clinical caseload and contribute to early assessment and
discharge planning within the emergency department. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the
role focuses on identifying functional needs, supporting safe discharge where appropriate, and ensuring
patients receive the right care pathway at the earliest stage of their hospital journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of patients within an emergency department setting.
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments to identify functional needs and risks.
- Support discharge planning and recommend appropriate interventions or support services.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within the emergency department.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to support safe and appropriate patient care pathways.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
- Contribute to patient-centred care within a fast-paced hospital environment.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with the ability to manage a clinical
caseload in a fast-paced hospital environment. Experience working within emergency or acute care settings
will be beneficial, particularly where early assessment and discharge planning are required.
You will demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a
multidisciplinary team, supporting timely decision-making and patient-centred care.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Ability to manage a patient caseload within a hospital setting.
- Experience working in a fast-paced clinical environment such as emergency or acute services.
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
