Southwark Council is seeking an experienced and adaptable Locum Qualified Social Worker to join our Adult Care Team. In this fast-paced and diverse borough, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality social work practice to adults with complex needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner to contribute to person-centred care, reduce risk, and promote independence through timely interventions and multi-agency collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments and reviews, developing outcome-focused care and support plans tailored to individual needs.

  • Manage a varied caseload including older adults, those with physical disabilities, and people with long-term conditions or mental health issues.

  • Conduct safeguarding enquiries under Section 42, ensuring timely action and robust risk management.

  • Apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to assess capacity and lead best interest decisions where appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with NHS, housing, and voluntary sector partners while maintaining clear, accurate, and timely records in line with Southwark’s policies.
