Qualified Social Worker – Adults Team (Locum) – Redbridge

Brief Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join the Adults Social Care Team in Redbridge Council on a locum basis. In this role, you will support adults with complex needs, carrying out assessments, developing care plans, and promoting independence and wellbeing. You’ll be part of a collaborative, person-centred service focused on empowering individuals to live safely and confidently in their communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake Care Act assessments, mental capacity assessments, and safeguarding enquiries

• Develop and review personalised care and support plans in line with legislation and policy

• Work closely with service users, carers, health professionals, and external agencies

• Manage a caseload effectively, prioritising work to meet statutory timescales and local procedures

• Promote independence, choice, and wellbeing for adults through strengths-based practice

• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service development within the Adults Team

About You

• You are a Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England (SWE)

• You have proven experience in adult social care, including assessment and care management

• You are confident working with older people, adults with disabilities, or those with mental health needs

• You have strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, person-centred approach

Requirements

• Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification)

• Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)

• Previous local authority experience within Adults Services

• Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding procedures

• Ability to work independently and manage competing demands

• Car driver with access to a vehicle preferred

Contract & Salary

• Location: Redbridge, East London

• Contract type: Locum / Temporary

• Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

• Pay rate: Competitive, dependent on experience and local pay scales
