View JobThe London Borough of Redbridge is seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive Social Worker to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Team. This vital role involves supporting some of the most vulnerable young people in our community—those who have arrived in the UK seeking asylum without parental care. If you are passionate about safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and promoting the rights of refugee and asylum-seeking children, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Undertake statutory assessments and care planning for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, ensuring compliance with the Children Act 1989 and relevant immigration legislation.
-
Support young people through asylum and immigration processes, working closely with legal professionals, the Home Office, and advocacy services.
-
Promote emotional well-being, cultural identity, and integration, including access to education, health care, and community resources.
-
Manage a complex caseload with sensitivity and professionalism, ensuring all documentation and casework reflect the young person’s voice, needs, and best interests.
