Registered Forensic Psychologist – HMP 

Location: York
Salary: £58,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent


Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Forensic Psychologist (RFP) to work within HMP – York. You will be part of a pioneering team committed to rehabilitation, providing expert psychological support to both prisoners and staff.

As an RFP, you will work directly with prisoners, staff, and stakeholders under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist to ensure the delivery of high-quality psychological services that align with professional standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions
  • Lead and supervise trainee psychologists within the team
  • Ensure psychological services adhere to HPC Standards of Proficiency and Ethics
  • Support rehabilitation programs that aid prisoner resettlement
  • Assist in parole assessments and report writing
  • Develop and implement strategies for reducing reoffending rates

Requirements

  • Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Minimum two years of post-registration experience
  • Supervisory experience, including overseeing Trainee and Assistant Psychologists
  • Experience working within secure or custodial settings preferred
  • Familiarity with the Parole Board process and psychological risk assessments
  • RAPP registration (desirable)
