Team Manager – Children’s Services (London Borough of Lambeth)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Lambeth Children’s Services team**. This leadership role is focused on managing and supporting a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding cases, and ensuring that children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality support.

As a Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership, supervision, and guidance, while also contributing to service development and maintaining compliance with statutory duties.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership, supervision, and oversight to a team of social workers.

Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities.

Support the professional development of staff through mentoring, coaching, and reflective supervision.

Ensure assessments and care planning are carried out to the highest standards in line with legislation and Lambeth Council policies.

Prepare and review audits, performance reports, and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Promote a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and child-centred practice.

Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to deliver integrated support.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.

Contribute to service planning, policy development, and delivery of strategic priorities.

About You

You are a confident and motivated leader with extensive post-qualification experience in children’s social work. You are skilled at supervising and inspiring teams, delivering high-quality services, and ensuring children remain at the centre of all decision-making.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Substantial post-qualification experience within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and complex case management.

Proven experience in a supervisory or management role.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

Ability to mentor, coach, and develop social workers.
