Executive Head of Childcare Services (London Borough of Haringey)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Executive Head of Childcare Services (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Haringey Children’s Services**. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for driving service delivery, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing strategic direction to improve outcomes for children, young people, and families across the borough.

As Executive Head of Childcare Services, you will lead multiple teams and managers, oversee service planning and performance, and work collaboratively with senior partners and stakeholders to deliver safe, effective, and child-centred services.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight across all areas of childcare services.

Lead, supervise, and support senior managers to ensure consistent high-quality practice.

Oversee complex safeguarding and childcare services, ensuring statutory requirements are met.

Develop and implement strategies in line with local and national policy priorities.

Manage performance and quality assurance, driving continuous improvement.

Lead service audits, inspection preparation, and Ofsted readiness.

Manage budgets, resources, and workforce planning effectively.

Promote multi-agency collaboration with health, education, police, and voluntary organisations.

Ensure children’s voices are central to decision-making and service development.

Represent the service at senior leadership meetings, corporate boards, and external forums.

About You

You are an accomplished leader with extensive post-qualification experience in children’s social work and proven senior management expertise. You bring strong strategic vision, operational leadership, and the ability to inspire teams while keeping children’s needs at the heart of practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Substantial post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, including senior management.

Proven ability to deliver service improvement and manage large teams.

Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.

Strong strategic leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Experience managing budgets, resources, and workforce development.
