Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (London Borough of Bexley)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Bexley Children’s Services team**. This role focuses on safeguarding children, supporting families, and ensuring children’s voices are at the heart of all decision-making.

As a Qualified Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload that may include child in need, child protection, and looked-after children cases. You will work directly with children, young people, and families, alongside multi-agency partners, to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.

Develop, implement, and review child-focused care and protection plans.

Manage a caseload including child in need, child protection, and looked-after children cases.

Prepare and present evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.

Build positive and trusting relationships with children, young people, and families.

Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure coordinated multi-agency support.

Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Bexley Council policies.

Participate in reflective supervision, training, and team learning to support your professional development.

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with a strong commitment to safeguarding children and supporting families. You can manage a varied caseload, balance competing demands, and keep children’s safety and wellbeing at the centre of your practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience within Children’s Services (caseloads will be matched to your experience level).

Good knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
